World’s Best Snowboarders set for LAAX OPEN 2022.

The snowboarding season starts 2022 with a bang from January 11 through 15 at the LAAX Open 2022. As part of the FIS Snowboard World Cup Tour, the world’s finest freestyle snowboarders will dazzle judges and fans with their one-of-kind aerial tricks.

In the last World Cup event before the Olympic Winter Games, there is a huge purse of 140,000 CHF up for grabs, which is divided equally among men and women, halfpipe and slopestyle. Everything will be determined atop the Crap Sogn Gion mountain, some 2250-plus meters above sea level.

Although the top competitors are bound to make flying through the air unbelievably easy, the slopestyle course is all but easy. It requires precision, upper echelon technique, and unique creativity.

In the slopestyle competition keep an eye on Moritz Boll and the Swiss snowboard team, while the Scandinavian countries and Canada are bound to make their presences felt in the finals. For the women, Anna Gasser, Katie Omerod, and Annika Morgan are favorites to be on the podium.

The 200-meter halfpipe, keep a close eye on Spain’s Queralt Castellet, winner from 2020. Ladies from China, as well as Jan Scherrer from host country Switzerland, are also one’s to watch. Scherrer is in form to take a spot on the podium, where she has three times in major international competitions. Japan’s Ruka Hirano and Yuto Totsuka are bound to be in the mix in the men’s competition.
