Ski holidays in Italy are all about relaxed and easy-going Italian hospitality, delicious gourmet food for less and quiet slopes with great snowmaking technology.

Vialattea

Sestriere sits at the heart of one of Europe biggest ski areas known as Vialattea.

The ski resort ViaLattea – Sestriere/Sauze d’Oulx/San Sicario/Claviere/Montgenèvre is located in the Province of Turin (Torino) (Italy, Piedmont (Piemonte)) and in the Arrondissement of Briançon (France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Hautes-Alpes).

It regularly hosts Alpine Ski World Cup events but its biggest moment came when it was chosen as the center for the alpine events in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympics, hosting all the men’s alpine skiing competitions and being the site of one of the three Olympic Villages.

The two hotel towers that dominate the skyline have become the symbol of the village. They were built in the 1930s by FIAT’s founder Giovanni Agnelli to provide a holiday retreat for the workers in the FIAT factory down in Turin.
It isn’t just a winter resort. In the summer it is possible to play golf on Europe’s highest 18-hole course and more recently it has seen a huge increase in the number of mountain bikers coming out to sample the slopes without the snow. Sestriere is part of the Alpes bike resort which offers a concentrated mix of some of the best riding in Europe.

Cortina d'Ampezzo

Best known of the dozen Dolomite ski resorts, ever since the 1956 Winter Olympics were held here, is Cortina D'Ampezzo. It is located in Cortina d’Amprezzo (Italy). For skiing and snowboarding, there are 120 km of slopes for different riding level and techniques. More than three dozen lifts carry skiers almost from the door of their hotel to snowfields just below the summits, at the crests of the highest ridges.
