Shape Overview: Tapered Twin

Although it looks like a traditionally shaped directional board, once you take a closer look, it becomes clear that the Ultimate Ride is way more complicated than that. If you compare the nose and tail shape and profile you’ll notice that the longer nose is mimicked in the tail, it’s just been cut shorter. Although there’s a 5mm taper, this innovative design gives the Ultimate Ride a way more balanced feel than you’d expect in this kind of board, all without compromising the floaty all-terrain performance of the board. Now to ensure that the Ultimate Ride can take full advantage of its groundbreaking shape and high-performance construction, it utilises the advanced Quadralizer sidecut. Designed to work in harmony with the Quad Camber profile, Quadralizer combines Salomon’s unique Equaliser sidecut with Quadratic zones to create a hard carving geometry with increased control and feel.

The aggressive characteristics of camber blended with rocker on the tip and tail to make the board unsinkable in pow with untouchable speed. Quad Camber built with a blend of different radiuses and is more forgiving than a regular camber but maintains the reactivity and pop.

Construction:

As the Ultimate Ride is all about delivering high-performance across the whole mountain, Salomon packs it to the gunnels with its most advanced technology. Heading this up is the Ghost Green Poster core. Combining aspen and paulownia with bamboo rods at the tip and tail, it delivers a powerful and poppy flex through the length. To add even more pop, Salomon then adds their Ghost Carbon Beam stringers and Gunslinger sidewalls. The Ghost Carbon Beam inserts two carbon beams into both the tip and tail, adding pop and stability to the board. At the same time, the Gunslinger sidewalls integrate a band of carbon into the sidewalls, reducing reaction time while increasing shock absorption. Now to ensure that the Ultimate Ride doesn’t compromise its freestyle feel, Salomon uses their standard bi-ax MD glass. This gives the board a more predictable feel ensuring that when you want to hit up the park, it’s not going to feel overly aggressive and unwieldy.

Base: Sintered EG Area 51

Built to go faster and fly higher – The Area51 base is a high-density sintered based laced with a super secret-wax formula, and a specially engineered factory finish designed for air time and durability.
