Advanced Intermediate to Expert
Sintered 8000 Base
Advanced Intermediate to Expert riders who want a more surf-inspired all-terrain board for those deep powder days for laying out carves on groomers or just plying around over the whole mountain.
The Mind Expander is the ultimate evolution of the collaboration between Jeremy Jones and surfboard shaper Chris Christianson. Its fully directional shape with extended nose profile and short full-width tail delivers the ultimate in backcountry float. However, it’s the addition of the short radius sidecut with Traction Tech 2.0 that bring this board alive, transforming it from powder board to high-speed carver in an instant. Also, that full-width tail gives the board its unique versatility over the rest of the mountain, delivering the Mind Expanders unique all-terrain versatility. For 20/21 Jones have added Carve Pack Inserts. These offer the option of a more centred carving oriented stance for ripping hard-pack.
Chris Christianson’s surf rocker combines an extended rocker profile in the nose that runs back to the front insert holes. This super long rocker then blends into a flat section which extends back to a short rocker zone at the full-sized tail. This unique design gives unrivalled lift at the front by channelling snow down and under the nose. However, the flat section works perfectly with the board’s tight sidecut to provide a dynamic feeling under the feet, allowing you to power up the board through the carve.
3D Contour Base 3.0
The unique Contour 3.0 Spooned base is the most freeride specific of Jones’s innovative 3D base profiles. Combining 7mm of spoon in both the nose and tail which begins at the rocker points, Jones manages to deliver a super smooth transition from edge to edge combined with additional lift and float in the nose.
Internally, Jones doesn’t hold back when it comes to construction, ensuring that the Mind Expander lives up to its hype. Heading up its high-end build is the FSC approved Bamboo Surf Core. This lively wood core combines lightweight Paulownia with upgraded Bamboo stringers located parallel to the edges. This state of the art design powers up the sidecut while still delivering a smooth and mellow ride. Now match this with the torsionally softer bi-ax weave glass reinforced with Basalt stringers, and you have all the ingredients in place to deliver a truly remarkable ride.
As the Mind Expander is all about speed, Jones fit with their all-new super-fast Sintered 8000 base. This super durable material made from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and carbon is easily repairable, highly wax absorbent and wicked fast.
