Shape Overview

Th4 Airheart’s innovative directional twin shape has been specially designed to deliver a responsive and dynamic ride across the whole mountain without sacrificing that balanced feel that you only get with a more freestyle focused board. To this Jones then add their state of the art Traction Tech 1.0 sidecut which places small bumps along the edges creating additional bite points. These bumps work like the serrations on a bread knife, increasing edge hold without sacrificing slow speed stability (1). At the far ends of the sidecut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually increasing the sidecut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition (2).

Profile

The Airheart’s Power Camber profile could best be described as an evolution of traditional camber. By tapering the camber radius to flat at the tip and tail Jones have created a board that has that powerful, solid and locked on feel through the turn, but one which won’t bite you if you want to take it easy. Those flat zones also create a stable platform just before the tail kick helping you to pre-load ollies for the ultimate pop off kickers.

3D Contour Base 2.0

One of the key ingredients to the Airheart’s versatility is the innovative 3D Contour 2.0 base profile. This state of the art base shape features an even balance of 4mm spoon bevel in the nose and 4mm spoon bevel in the tail. This delivers three distinct benefits to the rider, the first of these is that it creates a smoother transition from edge to edge. Secondly, it lifts those contact points clear of the snow creating a smooth, buttery freestyle feel. Finally, it helps channel snow under the board creating additional lift in the pow.

Construction

Although the Airheart has been in the line for a few years now it’s construction has always been constantly evolving and keeping up to date with new technology and this seasons board is no exception. Heading up the high-quality build is the Power Core. This dynamic wood core combines poplar and lightweight paulownia with poppy bamboo to deliver a powerful and responsive flex. This is then combined with all new structural layers which blend tri-ax glass fibre with advanced Carbon/Innegra reinforcing. This unique material has many properties that are ideally suited to snowboard construction but most importantly they add strength and durability to the board while giving unrivalled shock absorption. This ensures that the new Airheart not only delivers stunning performance, but it still feels smooth and progressive to ride.

Base

Sintered 8000 Base. New super durable material made from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and carbon. This base is easily repairable, highly wax absorbent and wicked fast.
