Massive swell hits Oahu’s outer reefs
On January 16, 2021, one of the rarest events in many years happened in the Hawaiian Islands. Giant waves delighted extreme surfers. A team of Hawaiian surfers, accompanied by jetski drivers, as well as media crews decided not to miss the event and headed for the outer reefs of Oahu in the early morning.
The team included:
Koa Rothman, John John Florence, Ezekiel Lau, Mark Healy, Anthony Walsh, Kohl Christensen, Grant Baker, Kelly Slater and Mikey Wright.
Several incidents occurred while surfing. Several jet skis were hit by huge waves and even an ambulance had to arrive for several wounded.
