March Supercross Ends with a Flourish. Eli Tomac continues his superiority over the rest of the pack in Monster Energy AMA Supercross racing. His most recent dominant drive and performance typified his incredible recent run of success. Tomac won last Saturday night at Seattle’s Lumen Field, while Monster Energy/Kawasaski’s Jason Anderson finished runner-up to Tomac. It was an exhilarating one-two finish for Monster Energy in the 450cc class.
Tomac indicated that he was entirely focused on “puttering the hammer down.” He noted that Justin Barcia was on his tail during the first few laps. At that point Tomac made a flawless run, to earn the victory. A native of Colorado, Tomac enjoyed his fifth consecutive title and an incredible 44th overall. The career victory total moved him into a tie for fourth with legendary Chad Reed and within striking distance of Ricky Carmichael’s 48 wins for third place on the all-time list.
In other supercross events, the 250cc class return to the Western Supercross Series, Chrisitan Craig of Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha finished second. Craig had to overcome a collision with Michael Mosiman midway through the race, vaulting back from 6th for a place on the podium. Jo Shimoda narrowly missed the podium but still put forth a strong 4th place finish. Craig is in great position to win the 250SX West Championship, as he now has a very comfortable, if not commanding 26-point lead for the title.
